Information About Lord Byng's International Program
Ms N. Wai and Mr J. Rutley are your International Student Advisors
Mr B. Fitzpatrick is your district advisor
- Every year, Lord Byng accepts new students and welcomes back returning students into this program. Short term students from Europe, South America, as well as Asia come for a few months up to a full year to study at our school for one full year. Their intention is not to graduate but to get an immersion experience before returning home to finish their high school studies.
- However, a large portion of students from China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan come to our school in order to achieve high school graduation from BC. Many of these students intend to enter post secondary studies in North America or return home to pursue these studies. Some students come with their parents while others stay in home stay arrangements.

Where International Students are Within Our School
While a portion of these students are in our ESL program. About half the students in the International Program are not in the ESL program but are integrated throughout the school. They are in all elective classes as well as PE and Math courses. Some have been accepted into Byng Arts. Some will be graduating every year. Some become landed immigrants during the school year and leave the International program but remain in the school. Ms Wai keeps careful track of each student during their time at Lord Byng. She looks forward to working with them every year. She is happy to answer any enquiries about International students at Byng from staff, students, parents or custodians.
